Water Testing Services LLC

We provide sampling and testing primarily for financing and refinance requirements by VA, FHA, and USDA loans. This involves sampling private wells for coliform bacteria, nitrates, nitrites and lead. In some cases only coliform is required. Coliform tests include e. coli and fecal coliform. In other cases all four are required. Read more about VA water testing requirements.

Water Testing Services include:

  • Going to the home.
  • Disinfecting the tap.
  • Pulling the sample.
  • Sending the sample to a state certified lab.
  • Providing an invoice.
  • Providing results with an explanation of the findings.
  • Providing information for remediation in the event of a sample that exceeds EPA limits.

Samples are pulled by a FDEP state licensed Class A water treatment operator. Samples are analyzed by a state certified drinking water laboratory. Many water treatment companies are often not licensed nor certified for water testing. Water Testing Services holds a FDEP Class A Operator License #0007625.

We do not sell nor are we affiliated with any company which provides softeners, filters, disinfection devices, or any other treatment systems on private residences and feel it is a conflict to tell a customer that water tested positive and then offer a costly solution. Many times water treatment companies use hard sales and fear tactics to get people to buy systems they do not necessarily need.

We offer an unbiased analysis the homeowner can use to make an informed decision as to whether treatment is necessary or required.

If a test comes back positive for bacteria, we do offer free instruction on how the homeowner can disinfect a well themselves without the need to hire an expensive contractor. This instruction is offered without charge and is for informational purposes.

Coliform Bacteria Testing            Click Here for Coliform Bacteria Q & A
Total coliform is the most commonly used indicator of bacterial contamination. The presence of coliform bacteria is an “indicator” of a well’s possible contamination from human or animal wastes. Total coliform are a broad category of bacteria, most of which pose no threat to humans. Some come from fecal matter; others naturally occur in soils, vegetation, insects, etc. The presence of coliform bacteria in well water can be a harbinger of worsening water quality. In some cases, more specific tests for fecal contamination, such as E.coli, may be used.

Nitrate Testing                 Click Here for Nitrate and Nitrite Q & A
Common sources of nitrate to well water are fertilizers, septic systems, animal manure, and leaking sewer lines. Nitrate also occurs naturally from the breakdown of nitrogen compounds in soil and rocks. High levels of nitrate in well water present a health concern and can also indicate the presence of other contaminants, such as bacteria and pesticides. Drinking large amounts of water with nitrates is particularly threatening to infants (for example, when mixed in formula).

Lead Testing                      Click Here for Lead Testing Q & A
Lead can enter drinking water when service pipes that contain lead corrode, especially where the water has high acidity or low mineral content that corrodes pipes and fixtures. The most common problem is with brass or chrome-plated brass faucets and fixtures with lead solder, from which significant amounts of lead can enter into the water, especially hot water. Homes built before 1986 are more likely to have lead pipes, fixtures and solder.
